Abstract

Ganciclovir (GCV) is a nucleoside analogue of guanosine that exhibits antiviral activity against viruses of the herpes group, including cytomegalovirus. GCV is an effective therapy for cytomegalovirus infection in immunocompromised patients, such as patients with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome or those with immunosuppressive therapy following organ transplantation. The present article reviews the published methods for the determination of GCV.
